Dolphins, 2026
This painting is a study after Henri Matisse’s Goldfish, reimagined with my own interpretation. In place of Matisse’s goldfish, I have painted dolphins and transformed parts of the original color palette to create a new emotional atmosphere.
Here, dolphins appear in a small tank placed in a living room. It appears a a peaceful scene though, the viewer can notice a hint that something is wrong. It is not where dolphins should belong.
This work carries a message: dolphins want to be free. “Free the dolphins.” Today, an estimated 3,000 dolphins live in captivity in aquariums around the world, kept for human entertainment.
