The window view, 2026
This painting depicts the view from the window of my artist residency in La Napoule on the French Riviera in July 2026. It was painted en plein air, meaning I painted directly from observation while looking at the scene.
Inspired by Henri Matisse’s window paintings from Nice, I wanted to create my own interpretation while entering into a visual dialogue with a master I deeply admire. The figure in red represents me as a painter, expressing my strong desire and determination to become an artist.
